Meet the Board

Once the CRC is funded, there will be another process to appoint the remaining board members.

Denise von Wald

Denise von Wald is an experienced Board Director and CEO with global experience and advanced marketing skills in the tourism, event, and education sectors. She was most recently the Principal/CEO of St Ann’s College working with university providers and TAFE and has provided strategic advice to a number of Boards, including AVMC, a world-class venue management company.

 

Denise is currently Director of the Adelaide Economic Development Agency, Festival City Adelaide, the Student Accommodation Association and the McLaren Vale Grape, Wine and Tourism Association. She has previously served as a Director for ICHM, a leading Hospitality, Tourism and Business Education provider, and Tourism Australia's Regional General Manager for the UK and Northern Europe, based in London.

Professor Deen Sanders OAM

Deen is the Lead Partner for Deloitte: Integrity, and as a Worimi man and Giparr (cultural leader) in his community, he blends Indigenous knowledge with complexity theory and modern management principles to address complex challenges.

 

Deen’s interests are in the intersection between Indigenous knowledge and sectors such as environment and climate change, economics, community development, tourism, leadership, government policy, and the space industry. With CEO roles in government and commercial sectors, he's a global expert in professions, regulation, ethics, and law.

 

Deen holds a Doctorate in Complexity Theory and Trust and received an Order of Australia Medal in 2017. He's an Adjunct Professor at Newcastle University Law School and holds various board positions, including Australia's Chief Professionalist (Australian Council of Professions), the Indigenous Systems Knowledge Collective, the Australian Data Standards Advisory Committee, and the Chair of the First Nations Advisory Group (Future Tourism CRC) and Board member for the Future Tourism CRC.

Stewart Moore

Stewart Moore is the founder and CEO of EarthCheck and Executive Director of the APEC International Centre for Sustainable Tourism. 


With over 30 years of experience in tourism operations and consulting across the Asia Pacific, Stewart specializes in sustainable tourism planning, destination management, and marketing. In addition, he's a fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia and the Australian Tourism Research Institute. In 2013, Stewart was named among the top 100 sustainability professionals globally.
Stewart has served on various tourism councils and boards, including the Tourism Forecasting Council of Australia and as Chairman of the Pacific Asia Travel Association in Queensland. Furthermore, he is a member of the Advisory Board for the Griffith University Institute for Tourism and the Executive Board of the Pacific Asia Travel Association.


Stewart is also an author of numerous publications focusing on destination management, risk and crisis management, and strategic planning.

Jan Hutton

Jan is the CEO of Australian Tourism Data Warehouse.

Jan’s expertise lies in visitor economy strategy development, tourism recovery strategies and data analytics. Jan previously held roles as former Managing Director within the Ogilvy group, Director and board member of The Nielsen Company, CMO of South African Tourism, CMO of Deloitte Consulting Africa, CMO of Destination Gold Coast and GM of Marketing for Destination NSW (New South Wales).
